Freericks, Sens Honored by President DeGioia
Two members of the Georgetown 海角论坛 faculty received prestigious awards聽from University President John J. DeGioia earlier this month.
of the and of the were awarded the President鈥檚 Awards for Distinguished Scholar-Teachers, which honor 鈥渋ndividuals who have made an exceptional impact on our community through the integration of ambitious research and extraordinary student engagement.鈥
Freericks, who holds the Robert L. McDevitt, K.S.G., K.C.H.S. and Catherine H. McDevitt L.C.H.S. Chair in Physics, specializes in mathematical, condensed matter, and cold atomic physics. An accomplished researcher, he receives funding from various government agencies, including the National Science Foundation, the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, the Army Research Office, the Air Force Office of Scientific Research, and the Department of Energy. The 海角论坛 profiled his work last December.
Sens, the Markos and Eleni Tsakopoulos-Kounalakis Professor of Hellenic Studies, is a literature specialist who focuses on Hellenic and Late Classical texts. He is a dedicated researcher, beloved teacher, and active member of the administration, having served as Chair of the University Committee on Rank and Tenure from 2005 to 2006 and from 2008 to 2009.
