Biology Department Receives Major Grants

Four  professors recently received major research grants from the National Science Foundation (NSF) and the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

Associate Professor  received an Improving Undergraduate STEM Education grant from the NSF to further develop a program that helps students develop skills in the fields of bioinformatics and microbial genomics. Assistant Professor Leslie Ries received an NSF grant for her project 鈥淐ollaborative Research: ButterflyNet,鈥 an integrative framework for comparative biology.

Associate Professor  received a grant from NIH鈥檚 National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke for his research on remyelination and multiple sclerosis. Associate Professor  received a grant from NIH鈥檚 National Institute of Mental Health for her work on the regulation of cortical neuronal expansion and maturation.
